Unofficial project
CodexSkin is independent and unofficial. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by OpenAI. Codex and OpenAI trademarks belong to their owners.
Use at your own discretion
CodexSkin is provided as a local theme runner and curated skin library. It is distributed without warranties of uninterrupted operation, compatibility with every Codex Desktop version, or fitness for a particular purpose. Codex Desktop updates may change renderer behavior and require CodexSkin updates.
Always keep the official Codex Desktop installer and settings as your source of truth. Use Restore when you no longer need a themed session.
Paid digital themes
A completed PayPal payment grants the purchaser a personal, non-transferable license to use the themes listed in the purchased package. It does not transfer ownership of the artwork or permit redistribution, resale, public mirroring, or removal of recipient fingerprints.
The license code is delivered after PayPal reports a completed capture. Keep the code secure. Refund requests and buyer protections are handled according to applicable law and PayPal rules. A completed refund, reversal, or successful chargeback may revoke the linked premium entitlement.
Paid custom themes
A $2.99 customization purchase unlocks one personal custom theme. Previewing is free. The paid edit session starts with the first package generation, lasts 30 minutes, and permits up to three successful generations of that theme. Re-downloading the latest completed package does not create a new theme.
You must own or have permission to use uploaded artwork. Custom themes are personal, data-only themes and are not marked as official signed CodexSkin editions. Payment purchases the generation and packaging service, not ownership of third-party artwork.
Acceptable use
Do not use CodexSkin to impersonate official OpenAI products, bypass application security boundaries, redistribute third-party artwork without rights, or mislead users about affiliation or endorsement. Public theme assets should avoid logos, watermarks, celebrity likenesses, franchise characters, and copyrighted screenshots unless you have permission.
Safety boundary
The runner uses Chromium DevTools Protocol on loopback to style a local Codex Desktop session. CDP is powerful and unauthenticated for trusted local users/processes, so only run trusted local software while a themed session is active. Read the Safety model before broad use.
